Access information

Helicopter access: All year via landing site at Horace Walker Hut
Road access point: Karangarua
Foot access: Access is difficult, either allow at least 1 day from Cassel Flat (via Regina Creek and over Conical Hill saddle), or from helicopter landing site at Horace Walker Hut about 4-5 hours

Notes

Tahr mainly on the true left of Douglas River. Faces difficult to access, but lower creek beds give good access to tahr. Tahr often low in bush, down to the Douglas River but can also be high on steep faces. Chamois present throughout, but more common on true right of Douglas River.
